About openSpeak

What is it?
openSpeak is a VoIP solution and is aimed at clan and casual gamers who like to chat while playing a game.

Why create another application if there is already TeamSpeak or Ventrilo?
Most members of the openSpeak Team are using Linux as their main operating system and TeamSpeak’s Linux client isn’t really good (no minimizing to icon, only OSS support and no ALSA) and causes many troubles with older games as Quake 3 or Enemy-Territory. Ventrilo doesn’t even have a Linux client.

What can I expect when using openSpeak 0.1?
Our first version only got very basic features. You can speak with your friends on the same server in one big channel, use text messaging and use either voice activation or a specified key to talk. This feature set will of course get extended with every released version.
